Meal Prep 101

First things first meal prep is BORING!! I’m not going to lie, but is so important when it comes to achieving your goals and making your life easier, “give me 6 hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first 4 hours sharpening my axe” - Abraham Lincoln, You should take this approach with your meals to it may seem like a pain in the butt at the time (which it is) but trust me your body will be thanking you in the future. There are many ways you can meal prep, for example you can,

1) Cook all your lunches for the working week on a Sunday and prepare snacks,

2) You can cook your meals for the following day every day and prepare snacks,

3) You prep your meals for 3 days in advance i.e. on Sunday you cook your meals up until Wednesday, Wednesday you cook your meals through to Saturday,

There are numerous ways you can meal prep but I find these 3 to be the easiest. If you are someone who can’t stand eating the same thing day in day out and need to switch meal regularly I suggest trying option 2) or 3) whereas if you aren’t that fussed about eating the same meal at lunch time for a week then option 1) is going to be easier for you. If you are new to meal prepping or new to trying to reach goals that are related to body weight and your physique I strongly advise you to download a calorie counter app and weigh all your food. You don’t have to do it forever, just long enough to know you are cooking the right amount of rice or eating the correct portion of nuts for your body weight, physical activity and your goals. Commit for a minimum of 30 days and it becomes habit. You may feel like it is such a chore to meal prep but one time in your life so was brushing your teeth. Your parents would have to force you to do this, but now every day when you wake up or go to sleep you do it with no effort or thought. The same thing applies here once you have got into the habit its easy. People are always asking me how I meal prep or eat healthy every day and the truth is it is now just a habit, at first it was hard but now it’s a part of my daily routine just like brushing my teeth. Now it is easy to stick to. The truth is anyone can pick up this habit, you need to be persistent to start then before you know it is in your routine. So, there you have it meal prep 101, yes it sucks but let me tell you, the results do not. Build it into your daily routine and you will not regret it.
