I Think You Better Read This

Feeling weak isn’t fun, as everyone gets older something the majority of people have in common is that they become weak.

After the age thirty you lose around 3-5% muscle mass each decade and it can start to go quicker after the age 50.

Its not something you pick up on at first but before you know it standing up feels a little bit more difficult that you realise it should.

Taking the stairs tires your legs out more than you want to deal with so you opt for elevators or escalators.

Lifting your kids, grandkids or your niece & nephew becomes harder than expected.

You soon realise that normal daily tasks are draining your energy leaving you more tired than it should or use to.

The thing is you don’t have to live or feel this way, you don’t have to feel tired after a normal day of tasks, you don’t have to feel like standing up is more effort than it should be, you should feel you can take a few flights of stairs without getting tired and you should be able to play and lift your kids, grandkids or nieces and nephews with ease.

When I pick my niece and nephew up they often say your strong or stronger than Daddy who is my OLDER brother.

Don’t you want to be known as the stronger one to?

Being told you're stronger than your husband, daughter & older sibling, its a great upper hand to have and confidence booster.

Granted the only two people who think I’m strong is a four and eight year old but it still counts…… It does okay.

Anyway imagine being able to get through everyday five - ten times easier than you do now, having increased energy and strength to do everything.

Strength is important not only for daily tasks but a healthy body to, the stronger you become the stronger your bones, joints and tendons are to.

Which heavily reduces the risk of injury and bone disease.

Sacropenia (muscle wasting disease) is on the rise due to the amount of people who spend majority of their time inactive and do not strength train.

Simply by strength training a minimum of two times per week can reverse all these negative effects on your body and enforce the positive ones.

But you need to get out of your comfort zone in order to do so.

No more lifting small hand weights.

No more bodypump style training of low weight and super high reps.

And no more stopping fifteen reps sooner than your body can withgo.

Strength training is trying to increase your strength by progressively lifting heavier so the weights you previously lifted would now feel easy.

If you are still doing the same weights 4-8 weeks from now then you are doing something wrong.

Don’t be afraid to lift heavier, embrace it and take on the challenge.

One of my clients can knock out more pull ups than most men, lift more weight through her hamstrings than I can and she’s a mother of two, how impressive and bad ass is that? Whilst she still maintaining a petite frame (not a crazy muscular like most women would perceive to happen).

Strength training can be one of the most positive and beneficial things you can do for your health.

So I urge you not to avoid it.

Whether you want to be able to bodyweight pull ups, out lift my hamstrings or just lift up your children and climb the stairs easier, strength training will do this for you.
