Fear Is The Only Thing Holding You Back

I’ve been putting off doing a few things recently, not because they aren’t something I wanted to do or because I didn’t see value in them but just because I feared what would happen.

But do you know what is much worse than that initial fear?

Regret.

In life it’s not the things we do that we regret, it is the things we don’t do.

Sure it may not work out how you had hoped, it may have caused you some pain but these things are fixable.

What isn’t is the missed opportunities you let fear prevent you from doing.

Fear is THE only thing that holds us back from anything, everything reason you put in the way is just an excuse.

We all fear change as it is something we're not used to, it's stepping outside our comfort zone which can be pretty scary.

But every reason you have for not changing is just an excuse.

Reason/Excuse - Parents or partner wouldn’t agree.

Reality - They will still love you and support you no matter what.

Reason/Excuse - I don't have the funds to.

Reality - You’ve spent money on a lot of trivial stuff that doesn’t matter and I guarantee there’s stuff you can sell which you don’t use or really need.

Reason/Excuse - The time isn’t right.

Reality - The time is never right and it's better sooner than later.

Reason/Excuse - I wouldn’t know where to start or what to do.

Reality - There are tens of thousands of people out there who do know and you can easily find them and message them at a click of a button to ask for their guidance.

I could go on and on, every reason/excuse you have for not doing something there is a solution.

Don’t get me wrong it’s not that any of these reasons aren’t valid nor is it that simple but you have to think, "what is it I truly want, is it this or that?"

Once you realise this and you go for what you want you’ll see it was just fear that was holding you back so go for it

Seriously what’s the worst that could happen?

So it may not work out how you exactly intended but it's quickly reversible and at least then you know.

But it could also be the best thing that happened to you but you wouldn't know unless you tried.

I challenge you to write out all of your reasons and fears which prevent you from making a change this New Year followed by solutions and the reality that go alongside with it.

Reason/Excuse - I’m addicted to sugar.

Reality - No one is addicted to sugar, yes I really enjoy sweet foods but so do most people, I don’t need to cut it out of my diet I just need to gain better control.

Reason/Excuse - I’m just too tired after work.

Reality - Once I start exercising I will become more energised after a day at work or I can get up earlier to exercise or go for a walk.

Excuse - I don’t know what I’m doing.

Reality - I know someone who does, they can help me and guide me or I can buy a book that contains the right information.

Continue this list with every reason/excuse that you can think of followed by the reality of it.

Once you’ve done this not only will you have eliminated some fear of starting but you’ll also have a starting plan of action to follow.

The perfect opportunity to start your journey to a healthier, fitter and more confident you, is just around the corner.

It’s 10 days until 2020 so start planning what you want to achieve now, today, not then as it will never get done and another reason/excuse will pop up.

So get prepared and hit the New Year with the best start possible and leave no excuse unturned.
